Sabah quake: Four Singaporeans in ICU, says CEO of Gleneagles Kota Kinabalu Hospital
KOTA KINABALU - Four Singaporeans who suffered head, skull or spinal injuries in the Sabah quake are under observation in the intensive care unit at Gleneagles Kota Kinabalu Hospital.
The hospital's chief executive Jean-Francois Naa said in a statement that the four patients and a fifth Singaporean still warded at the hospital, are in stable condition.
The hospital has seen 20 Singaporeans since Friday. Two were treated as outpatients, and 13 were admitted for minor injuries and discharged on Saturday.
At least 11 people were killed after the 6.0-magnitude quake struck early on Friday, including Singaporean Peony Wee Ying Ping, 12, a Tanjong Katong Primary School pupil who was on a school trip to Mount Kinabalu.
Six pupils and two teachers from the school are still missing.
Singapore's Education Ministry said on Saturday evening that the Malaysian authorities have recovered more bodies from the mountain. The identities of the deceased remain unconfirmed.
